What Elite Media?
Ready to learn how to spin something the GOP way? The way that John McCain and company has handled the Sarah Palin vetting process but more importantly her qualifications was epic. I actually took notes and have registered the tactic in my brain. Perhaps I will use it one day but until that day comes, I shall feel happy to share their strategy with you.
All week, Republicans claimed that the Elite Media was attacking Palin on her qualifications. Really? What Elite media are you talking about? You mean the same one that held President Bush accountable for the lies he produced to justify the War in Iraq?
The same Elite media that Papa McCain claimed that were his friends . . . you know the same ones he invited to a private barbecue dinner at one of his seven homes. The same media that have failed to call out Palin or McCain on their lies. Yeah right . . . elite media my @$$- apparently you have never had to deal journalist that hold politicians accountable.
So if there is no Elite media then what is all the fuss you may ask? Simple . . . they are crying foul play and a media bias before the media even gets a chance to interview Palin. You see . . . the media is supposed to hold our politicians accountable (it just seems like that does not always happen) and when the media sits down with Palin she would look unprepared for the challenge.
So McCain and company decided to whisk her in the middle of the night to Alaska so she can memorize the playbook so in 2 weeks she can fall in line with the party message. Obama and his supporters never complained about the scrutiny that he was subjected to. It is part of the politics folks . . . the journalist just want to report.
But, now . . . they have been denied access to Palin and have already been accused of being bias and sexist. Sexist . . . for entertaining the idea that Palin may not be qualified, get out of here! You are the biggest load of hypocrites I have ever seen.
Fox News' Chris Wallace, responding to McCain campaign charges, asked Whitman, "Is it fair to call it 'sexism'? I mean, sometimes there are legitimate questions." Whitman responded, "I actually think it's completely fair for the media to vet Sarah Palin, just as they did Barack Obama and John McCain and everyone else who's running for office. I mean, you are running for the second highest office in the land, so I think it's the right thing to do."
Joe Klein adds, “This is a smokescreen, intended to divert attention from the very real and responsible vetting that is taking place in the media--about the substance of Palin's record as mayor and governor.”
They have created an environment where if the media holds McCain accountable they cry bias and unfair. In March, Palin stated, “I say this with all due respect to Hillary Clinton…but when I hear a statement like that coming from a woman candidate with any kind of perceived whine about that excess criticism or you know maybe a sharper microscope put on her, I think you know that doesn’t do us any good – women in politics, women in general wanting to progress this country.” Enough said!
