Buy the White House for $2 Million

As John McCain attempted to deceive the world by claiming that Barack Obama was responsible for the economic meltdown that occurred a week ago, the American people did not bite. The John McCain stated that Barack Obama had received lobbyist donations from Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae but that was proven false. Then The New York Times published an article that should put John McCain to shame.

John McCain’s campaign manager was paid almost $2 million over 5 years as a president for a lobbying firm that pushed for deregulation in the housing market. The New York Times claims, “Senator John McCain’s campaign manager was paid more than $30,000 a month for five years as president of an advocacy group set up by the mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to defend them against stricter regulations, current and former officials say.”

Current and former executives of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae have entertained the role that Rick Davis, John McCain’s campaign manager, played in helping the industry gain deregulation.

“The value that he brought to the relationship was the closeness to Senator McCain and the possibility that Senator McCain was going to run for president again,” said Robert McCarson, a former spokesman for Fannie Mae.

From former CEO Carly Fiorina to lobbyist Rick Davis, John McCain has surrounded himself with executives and people who envision an American economic market that contradicts what McCain promises to bring to Washington.
