Obama Wins Again!
I watched the debate in Spanish this time around to see what the perspective is like for Spanish speaking voters. I was turned onto the idea after my father mentioned to me that he did not understand the “folksy” statements that Sarah Palin was using since it was hard for the translator to relay the idea.
As I watched the Presidential Debate on Telemundo, I arrived to the same conclusion that some of John McCain’s statements came off as awkward. This in turn becomes a loss for McCain since he was not able to connect to those needed voters.
Independent voters that were watching the debate along with Telemundo overwhelmingly felt that Obama did better and that he would be the better choice for President.
The debate was setup as a town-hall style debate and it should have benefitted John McCain more than Barack Obama. Yet, once again . . . Barack Obama was able to hold his ground and reassure voters that he was apt to lead.
John McCain came off once again as condescending. In one instance John McCain referred to Barack Obama as “that one” which seemed harsh even in Spanish when everything sounds smooth and beautiful.
He also handled one audience members question in a peculiar manner. At one point he informed that individual that they probably had never heard of Freddie Mac or Fannie Mae which did not seem to be a compliment.
CNN concluded that, “Fifty-four percent of those questioned in a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey conducted after the debate ended said that Obama did the best job in the debate, with 30 percent saying John McCain performed better.”
After the debate finished, Barack Obama lingered around awhile John McCain left pretty quickly. This may have happened for many reasons but for someone that would like to portray himself as the winner- they should have stuck around.
It reminded me of watching a Championship sports game or boxing match. When the game finishes, the winners stick around and celebrate. The losers make a quick exit.
