As the Ship Begins to Sink
With a week left before the General Election, it seems that the McCain/Palin camp is self-destructing as we speak. A McCain advisor has stepped forward criticizing Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin for her recent off the cuff actions.
CNN reports:
McCain sources say Palin has gone off-message several times, and they privately wonder whether the incidents were deliberate. They cited an instance in which she labeled robocalls -- recorded messages often used to attack a candidate's opponent -- "irritating" even as the campaign defended their use. Also, they pointed to her telling reporters she disagreed with the campaign's decision to pull out of Michigan.
A second McCain source says she appears to be looking out for herself more than the McCain campaign.
"She is a diva. She takes no advice from anyone," this McCain adviser said. "She does not have any relationships of trust with any of us, her family or anyone else.
"Also, she is playing for her own future and sees herself as the next leader of the party. Remember: Divas trust only unto themselves, as they see themselves as the beginning and end of all wisdom."
Speculation as to why Sarah Palin is doing this as the election nears comes back to the same reason- she is setting herself up for the future. Sarah Palin may be upset the way the McCain camp has handled her image and this her way to rectify it in her eyes.
A Palin associate and McCain adviser, according to CNN, defended their strategy of limiting Palin’s interaction with the media because “she was not ready and that the missteps could have been a lot worse.”
Sarah Palin is a heartbeat away from becoming the next U.S. President, if John McCain were to expire, and she was not and is not ready to conduct interviews with the media, according to her campaign, should be of concern to American voters.
"Her lack of fundamental understanding of some key issues was dramatic," said another McCain source with direct knowledge of the process to prepare Palin after she was picked. The source said it was probably the "hardest" to get her "up to speed than any candidate in history."
When your own advisers begin to question your judgment and VP candidate, it speaks volumes on how you have mismanaged your campaign. From flip-flopping on every known issue to wasting over $150k on the VP for her wardrobe, John McCain will have a lot of reasons to cite for losing this election.
