Iowa Caucus: A Win for Obama?

After all the media hype and reviewing the poll numbers one may assume that Presidential hopeful Barack Obama has a lot to cheer about. The candidate on the Democrats' side received the most votes than any other candidate but was nowhere near the majority. John Edwards suprisingly held his ground and squeezed by Clinton. On the Republican side, Huckabee was the most dominate, Romney, in second, trailed 9% points behind. Thompson and McCain followed dismially with third place.

Does this translate as a win for any candidate? No. A caucus works differently from a normal election. It requires more effort on the voter to decide to vote since they must meet up in a certain location and hang out for about an hour or two to vote. The fact that any candidate recieves more votes then any other candidate can be attributtted to a popularity contest. However, there are still 49 states left, and as for now, it's still anyones race. Except, for Biden and Dodd, who already dropped out. What kind of message does that send to our American High Schoolers?! Even though it was a small victory for Obama and Huckabee, it was still a victory. But it doesn't mean they have their nominations under their belts just yet.
