Richardson a Victim of the Blagojevich Scandal?

Bill Richardson has withdrawn his nomination to be President-elect Barack Obama’s commerce secretary. It seems that an investigation into a company that was awarded over $1.5 million in work for the state of New Mexico after making contributions to the P.A.C. of Governor Bill Richardson is the issue at hand.  Read More »

Happy Birthday!

Today is the first birthday for my blog. I can not believe that it has been 1 year since I started this endeavor.

One year ago, I had just come back from a two month stint in Europe and I was buckling down studying for the LSAT. I ended up taking that test in early February. Nonetheless, I still remember registering the domain ... wondering if I would keep it up.

Ever since, I have attempted to post an article everyday. As it stands, it looks like I produced over 1000 entries. My first post was "Pakistan Parliamentary Elections Postponed" due to the assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.  Read More »

Comparing Literacy and Political Ideology

My friend Cody Talley brought up a great article in our radio show about the “Top Ten Literate Cities” in the United States. He then went the extra mile to compare that list against the most current list of Liberal and Conservative cities.

What makes a city “literate” though?

The 2008 study of “America's Most Literate Cities" was conducted by the Center for Public Policy and Social Research at Central Connecticut State University and looked at cities with populations over 250,000.

Rankings were determined “based on local newspaper and magazine circulation, library data, online news readership, book purchases and resources, and educational attainment,” according to LiveScience.  Read More »

Thousands of Illegal Immigrants LIVE in Public Housing

The Associated Press has an interesting article by Elliot Spagat on illegal immigrants and public housing. The premise at hand as the title suggests is that thousands of illegal immigrants live in public housing.

Now one has to stop for a second to the let the headline sink in. After browsing the comments section of the Houston Chronicle and reactions on the blogosphere … it was pretty clear, this was a rallying call for anti-immigrant coalitions.  Read More »

United State of Pop 2008 (Viva La Pop)

Barack the Magic Negro

Whoever imagined that racism would expire once Barack Obama was elected as the first African-American President of the United States was dead wrong.

Race issues will continue to exist as long as there are people with different hues of color and ignorance is prevalent in that society. Imagine how I would have reacted once I found out about a candidate for the Republican National Committee chairmanship's justification for a blatant racist act.

Patrol the Border from Your Bedroom!

It seems that tin-foil wearing conspiracy theorist will have a field day telling everyone how we are on the path to a Big Brother state and how can I blame them?

The Houston Chronicle shed light into “a state-funded Web site that allows people to monitor footage from surveillance cameras along the Texas border.”

The website went live about 1 month ago and boasts over 21,000 “virtual deputies” while getting over 5 million hits. The program allows anyone with an Internet connection and time to kill ... the ability to monitor 13 cameras for suspicious activity along the southern Texas border with Mexico.  Read More »
