Did You Notice the Difference?

Today was an interesting day. There is only one day after a historic moment and that day was today. Did you notice how everyone was smiling?

Barack Obama easily won the election last night, there was no doubt. It seems when Democrats win, they win in large margins compared to the last two Presidential elections in which Bush squeaked by. Did you notice the difference?

As John McCain addressed his supporters and conceded, his supporters in bad taste booed at Barack Obama's mention. The opposite occurred in Chicago where a large crowd of supporters did not resort to such poor etiquette when Obama mentioned John McCain. Did you notice the difference?  Read More »


Examining How Texas Voted

The Hispanic turned out in record numbers and voted for Democrats but in particular Barack Obama in large numbers. At times it was high as 75% in some counties. Nonetheless, when it comes to politics in our state, Hispanics will play a bigger role in the future.

I was reviewing the county breakdown of how Texas voted. The image on the left represents all the counties that Barack Obama won in blue. The image on the right indicates how Democrats won in the House races. Notice a trend?

Texas is mighty blue in the South and pretty red up North. This trend will continue and I will not be shocked when everything up to Austin (being the Northern highest point) will vote blue. These are the key areas that Democrats should continue to work in and chip at to reclaim Texas. The major urban areas of Texas went overwhelming to Barack Obama.  Read More »


Revisiting my Predictions of the Election

How did I do with my predictions? Not too bad ... I speculated that the Election would be over by 11 EST/10 CST and I was right. When I heard the crowds cheering and boasting that Barack Obama had become our next President ... I quickly whipped out my iPhone to confirm the time and it was 10 on the dot. This also implies that my prediction that Obama would win was correct.

Now on the other races, I came close. For example: I thought the Electoral vote would be 352 for Obama and 186 for McCain. It looks more like Obama won 364 and McCain 173. I was wrong about the path that Obama would take in winning this election.  Read More »
