Today is the first birthday for my blog. I can not believe that it has been 1 year since I started this endeavor.

One year ago, I had just come back from a two month stint in Europe and I was buckling down studying for the LSAT. I ended up taking that test in early February. Nonetheless, I still remember registering the domain ... wondering if I would keep it up.

My friend Cody Talley brought up a great article in our radio show about the “Top Ten Literate Cities” in the United States. He then went the extra mile to compare that list against the most current list of Liberal and Conservative cities.

What makes a city “literate” though?

The 2008 study of “America's Most Literate Cities" was conducted by the Center for Public Policy and Social Research at Central Connecticut State University and looked at cities with populations over 250,000.

The Associated Press has an interesting article by Elliot Spagat on illegal immigrants and public housing. The premise at hand as the title suggests is that thousands of illegal immigrants live in public housing.

Now one has to stop for a second to the let the headline sink in. After browsing the comments section of the Houston Chronicle and reactions on the blogosphere … it was pretty clear, this was a rallying call for anti-immigrant coalitions.  Read More »
